For the past few days, we have been doing a lot within the computer lab, working on our team essays. Our team was split up into different sections for each paragraph of the essay. Each person would focus on
Within week 5 we have done a few things. We have finished a lot for "The Crucible." We have finished the book and the play. I have had to read a lot recently for the play within the past two weeks. I have been reading as the main judge, Danforth. The crucible is the main thing that we have been focusing on for the past few weeks.
So far I believe that I have almost everything that I need turned it except for a few things that I will be working on here shortly. Everything in class has been going a long fine, just reading the book, filling out a connection sheet, and a few different papers for the class. One thing that I love right now is recently we have been listening to some really good music (in my opinion). Example, the Kooks, Nirvana, Pink Floyd, ect.... Right now I believe that I don't have any question for the class, everything has been just fine, not confused about anything thus far. The crucible is a book that we have been recently reading for the past week. At the beginning of the week/ end of our last week, students were assigned parts for the book. The crucible is set up in a way where each person has a line to read, for example, Student X is reading all of the lines for Abbey.
Besides reading the book and watching the movie, we have been comparing the movie to some music, like Pink Floyd or RollingStones. We are comparing the song lyrics to some general ideas of the book and seeing how it may relate to the book and that religion back in that time. Everything seems just fine currently, just going over the book together. We do have another sheet that is connecting parts of the book to what we think it may mean. On my opinion of my participation this week, I would have to give myself a 6/10. I have recently been pretty tired because of training, but I have been able to get what I am supposed to get done, done. This week of English was... fun. It was really interesting. We began to learn about a religion that was extremely strict. They believe that god had control over ever that was ever, the god had disliked humans, in a way. Committing sin was a big "no - no." These religions had also believed in mythical beasts, such as a werewolves. Another thing they believed in were witches, which did in fact play a large roll on they're lifestyle. Simple things such as a bug bite, wrinkles, warts or a large nose could "determine" you as a witch. So what did they do? They killed em'. BURN THE WITCH.
In the class itself, we went through a few activities such as a chart. People in their groups talked about what they had noticed about the reading of the religion. I think the highlight of the in-class was when we had watched a clip of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. On Thursday of this week we had began to watch a movie about the religion. What we have watched so far, the religion isn't acting extremely tough, but that will probably change later on when the girls are accused of witch craft. These girls had ran off in the middle of the night, trying to perform what seemed as witchcraft, trying to make these boys love them. So far I don't have any question about what we have done so far, I know what is happening. But I did find something really interesting about what we have read about. A man had admitted to suckling snails for 20 years. Now normally you don't here about these kind of things... It was interesting! So far I think that the class is going along pretty well, I am not having any difficulties with what we are doing in class or in the computer lab. And I th So this was the first week of school. English has been a pretty interesting class so far. Nothing to out of the ordinary, same kind of stuff, write papers and read. But the style of the class is different, and I like it. So far, we haven't gone through to much. Our main objectives have been getting to know how the class is structured. The structure is nice, so far what we have done is have some time dedicated to reading, roughly around 15 mins worth of time. For half of the time, we aren't in the classroom, we have been in the Media Center. Our projects have been focused on creating a Weebly Page to post information about our "journey though English." This is, well, actually a English assignment! The classes job is to post about this week, telling information about it. I think it has gone pretty smoothly so far. I have read a little bit, keep forgetting my book (which will be here next week), but I have been reading a lot of reviews. Thus far I have been getting everything that I need to get done, done. So that's pretty good! I have come to learn a little bit so far. Our teaching (probably read this, so... Yo) is a pretty coolio guy, his teaching is different than what I have been used to so far. His teaching is more influenced by his opinions, which I think is good, not having to go word for word by the book. It is hard to put it into words, but I would say that the flow of the class is more "smooth," where instead of just being given a sheet of paper to fill out and answer, we type what we think, and our writing about the week.
